Snow Leopard + Flex Builder = Fail?

August 25th, 2009

I just found out that you can’t run Flex builder on OSX Snow Leopard. That SUCKS!

Adobe please fix asap!

mmm. this sort of thing makes me nervous about a proprietary platform (flex sort of is, especially if you want an IDE). Maybe I should look closer at using the SDK on its own.

I am currently running Flex Builder 2, but am keen to hear from any who has been able to get any version of Flex builder running on Snow Leopard, and how good the performance is.

UPDATE: Well, there have been a couple of encouraging comments from people who have got it running. Thanks guys!

Perhaps Adobe should come out and clarify their position.

UPDATE 2: See the results: here

Flash Builder Beta standalone worked for me on 10A421.

We’ve used the raw SDK for several projects, and it works great. Flash Builder 4 is nice, but you can get really far with jedit or textmate + ant.

You know there’s the OpenSource platform Eclipse which Flex is built upon. What I really would like to see is the FlashDevelop beeing ported to OSX

Flex Builder 3 and Flash Builder 4 both run great on 10A432 on my MBP. Same performances as on Leopard.

Why are you still using Flex Builder 2?

Line numbers wont scroll when I scroll the document. breakpoints works but doesn’t show up graphically.

Eric I have the same problem with line numbers! Have you had any luck fixing it, I re-installed and nothing changed

Hey Tim, I had the same problem, and managed to get Flex Builder 2 to run with Snow Leopard by installing Java 1.5—following the procedure outlined at http://codethought.com/blog/?p=233
